Do you want to unsubscribe from a text service?
In order to unsubscribe from a Premium Rate SMS Service, you can use the reply button on your mobile to the last message you received and text the word stop. Then send this text.

I don't have a 5 digit number only a mobile number!
If you do not have a 5 digit number, call your mobile network operator (ie. O2, Vodafone, 3Ireland or Meteor) and ask for this number that was attached to the last message you received. When you have this number you can use the menu below.

How long will it take for these messages to stop once I have sent the stop command?
You should be unsubscribed within 24 to 48 hours.

Do you wish to find out who has sent you these messages?
Use the menu below to enter the 5 digit number (53XXX) and this will give you the Service Provider name and contact details.

Looking for a refund?
Issues of refunds can only be dealt with by Service Providers. It is not within the remit of Regtel to become involved with telephone bills, however they arise. Please use the menu below to find out who to contact.

Do you dispute that you subscribed?
In order to verify a subscription to a Premium Rate Service, you need to request from the Service Provider - using the menu below - the date and time that is on their records of your mobile telephone having subscribed to the service.

Please Note : Regtel does not have access to your telephone account information - the network operators and the Service Providers are the only bodies that can provide you this information.

What you should know
All Service Providers must offer a live service help line during normal business hours.

If you have subscribed to a SMS service you should receive:

  • An opt-out information service at regular intervals
  • On spending €20, you will receive a free reminder message containing details of the subscription service, charges and frequency of charges and how to exit the service by texting the word stop.
You should also know that:
  • An Interactive Service must not exceed €10 in any one transaction per day.
  • Unsubscribing must only cost a standard rate charge.
  • If your child has entered a subscription service but does not think they did, were they aware that all advertisements carry an age warning. You should contact the Service Provider for the details. If your child did not interact with the service, you should raise the issue of a refund directly with the Service Provider.
